Pure Land Buddhism has many Sutras. Jodo Shinshu founder, Shinran Shonin identified and focused on only three; The Larger Sukhavativyuha Sutra, The Contemplation Sutra and the Smaller Sukhavativyuha Sutra. This trilogy tells the story of how the infinite, formless Buddha makes itself known within our lives. This practice is accessible to everyday people, not just the nobility and monastic scholars. In this course, each text will be presented and their relationship to one another explored, as well as the basic practice.
