In the Pure Land Buddhist tradition, reciting the Buddha's Name is one of the important Buddhist practices. It is easier to do compared to monastic disciplines. It is also a practice which can lead to spiritual liberation while living in this world, maintaining a lay lifestyle and while still obtaining Buddhahood. Central to this practice, Amida Buddha made the deep wish to liberate all sentient beings living in this universe. In this course, we will learn the meaning of Nembutsu, and the practice of reciting the Name together. The Nembutsu, Namo Amida Butsu grasps us, transforms us, and enables us to awaken to ultimate reality.
